Allergen Information

Please read this carefully before booking or attending a Gillespies cake decorating class.

Important notice

Our classes are not suitable for allergies.

Gillespies Couture Cakes currently cannot cater for anyone with allergies, severe intolerances or coeliac disease. Our kitchen, ingredients, equipment, decorating tools and class environments may contain allergens and we cannot guarantee an allergen-free or cross-contamination-free environment.

Not allergy-safe

Please do not book or attend if you need an allergen-free environment.

Shared equipment

Tools, workspaces, surfaces and packaging may come into contact with allergens.

Food colours used

Decorations may include artificial colours and the Southampton 6 where present.

Common allergens

Allergens We Use

Our cakes, cupcakes, fillings, toppings, decorations and class ingredients may contain, or come into contact with:

  • Eggs
  • Milk / dairy
  • Wheat / gluten
  • Nuts, including peanuts and tree nuts
  • Soya
  • Sesame
  • Sulphites
  • Artificial colours and food dyes
Class environment

Cross-Contamination

Ingredients are prepared and handled in shared kitchen and class environments. Sponge, buttercream, icing, fillings, sprinkles, sweets, edible prints and decorations may all be handled during a class.

Even where an ingredient does not intentionally contain a specific allergen, traces may still be present through supplier ingredients, surfaces, equipment, packaging or the wider venue/class environment.

Artificial food colours

Southampton 6 Colours

Some sprinkles, decorations, edible prints, coloured icing, sweets or supplier-made ingredients may contain artificial food colours known as the Southampton 6. These colours are linked with the warning that they may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.

Cake decorating classes

What This Means For Classes

During our classes, participants decorate cakes or cupcakes using prepared ingredients and shared decorating items. We are unable to provide allergy-safe alternatives or guarantee that any finished cake, cupcake, decoration or workspace is free from allergens.

If you or your child has an allergy, severe intolerance or coeliac disease, we strongly advise that you do not take part in our classes at this time.
